I have to say this is one of the best animated movies, and overall motion pictures a person can see. It draws from emotion, science fiction, love, and war, in realistic entrapping ways, that keep your eyes to the screen like voodoo. Beautiful moments string together the movie surrounded by fantastic battle scenes. The dialog is great, especially for an anime, and brings intense meaning into the relationships of the characters. Encounters in Space, and the rest of the Gundam trilogy, is just as good as any big American trilogy. In my opinion it is close up there with the original star wars trilogy. It's teaming with thoughtful content and surprises.
The soft moments of the film when fighting dosen't take place, arn't the least bit boring like in other animes either. However, I must say that Char's Counterattack, one of the sequels to this series is the only example of a superior Gundam film. Virtually though, this film is pretty flawless, it's in the same boat as other anime masterpieces like the miyazaki films, end of evangelion, and Ghost in the shell. Anyways, just watch these movies, rent them, buy them, steal them, just watch them.
