"2001:A space odyssey" was THE milestone in the history of sci-fi cinema. That film overshadows every other anticipation movie of the decade (and the others) as a complete and perfect work.It took the genre -then unfairly looked upon as minor-to the point of its further development as an artistic work.

In the wake of such a masterpiece ,lots of directors wanted to do their own "2001".The German attempt was painful and ludicrous. It features stupid scenes on a beach which are mostly filler .The rest-the essential- is an astronauts' search for E.T.s around ..Jupiter.The characters are totally bland .Outside "2001",sci-fi buffs will notice borrowings from "Forbidden planet" (the robot).

To be avoided.
