I watched this at the cinema with my three children, aged 8, 10 and 12, and all enjoyed it, which I guess is the most important thing.
Visually, the movie is inventive, colorful, and the interesting 'creatures' were highlighted by all my kids as the best part. It's also nice to watch an animation not straight out of one of the big Hollywood studios, though it didn't look that different compared with some of the more interesting animations out there.
Having watched it in English, it's possible some of the awkward dialogue resulted from translation, though the voice actors are fine. What is really surprising is the complete lack of any story or plot whatsoever. It's almost like there was no story-boarding done at all at the start of the film, I'm surprised something could get a green-light without at least some form of plot (even if it's a poor one). Overall a wasted opportunity given the obvious money and creativity that went into the films animation.
